Dust off those VHS players! Renowned indie horror publisher DreadXP announced an April 25, 2023, launch date for cartoon edutainment-themed horror game, Amanda the Adventurer, for PC!

Developed by MANGLEDmaw Games, Amanda the Adventurer is a found footage style horror title that’s a throwback to the television edutainment era. In the game, players embody Riley Park who inherits their Aunt Kate’s house following her death. The adventure starts with the seemingly banal task of digging through the reclusive aunt’s attic, where Riley comes across a box full of VHS tapes. Watching through them, they discover that the tapes contain episodes of a long-lost children’s show starring the plucky Amanda the Adventurer and her cowardly yet loyal sidekick, Woolie the Sheep.

At first glance, the videos seem innocently childish and wholesome, depicting two best buddies as they explore and learn all about their wonderful world. However, the longer the videos are watched, the more a creeping, sickening feeling emerges that something in the tapes is watching back. Every day’s another adventure!

Phantasy Star Online 2 Global Launches on the Epic Games Store

SEGA today announced their popular free-to-play online action RPG, Phantasy Star Online 2 (Global), has launched on the Epic Games Store.

“We are so happy to be releasing Phantasy Star Online 2 Global on the Epic Games Store,” said Fred White from PSO2 Team Global. “With all the huge updates to the game over the past year, including the newest Chapter 6 update, there’s more content than ever to explore and play through. We can’t wait to welcome in all the new players to the PSO2 universe!”

ARKS (soldiers of the Oracle colony fleet in the Phantasy Star Online 2 series) are invited to join together online to explore numerous worlds with friends and experience PSO2’s unparalleled action combat and character customization. Choosing from four unique races and thirteen classes, players can join forces with up to eleven other operatives at a time to experience unforgettable battles and boss fights.

The Global version of Phantasy Star Online 2 includes fully localized text and character voices in English, spanning three years of content, including events, campaigns, quests, and raid bosses. In addition to the immersive original PSO2 story, the Global version also features the most-up-to-date balancing and quality-of-life improvements from the Japanese service. Players can choose from four races and thirteen classes while tackling various missions. FOOTBALL MANAGER DEBUTS ON EPIC GAMES STORE

We’re delighted to announce that Football Manager 2020 is available right now on the Epic Games Store.

To celebrate this news, we’ve partnered with Epic to make Football Manager 2020 – the best-selling title in the series’ illustrious history – available to download and keep for FREE for all fans, even if they already own the game on another platform. The free to own period on the Epic Games Store is available until 4:00 PM GMT on September 24, 2020.

FM20 on the Epic Games Store, as well as future editions of Football Manager includes cross network play with Steam allowing players to go head-to-head with their mates no matter which of the two platforms they’re playing on, utilising the Epic Online Services platform to make this a possibility.

Phantasy Star Online 2 Global Announces Episode 5

SEGA today announced their popular free-to-play online action RPG, Phantasy Star Online 2 (Global), will receive a free content update, Episode 5, on September 30. In addition, The Sakura Wars AC Scratch Ticket Collaboration, “Sakura Memories”, begins today.

“Hot off the heels of our Episode 4 content update in August comes the next chapter in the rich saga of Phantasy Star Online 2,” announced Fred White from PSO Team Global. “A continued storyline with new areas to explore, spectacular new enemies, a fun new type of quest called Buster Quests, and an increased level cap give our players lots to do in this expansion. And to help new players just joining the PSO2 worlds, starting today we’re running the ‘Road to Episode 5’ in-game event to help them get up to speed quickly.”

In Episode 5, following the aid of those on Earth, players discover a mysterious portal that leads to another dimension, called “Omega.” This world seems driven purely by fantasy, a world of swords and magic instead of technology and science. The two worlds are in direct contrast with each other, and as the story progresses, players will frequently move between them while observing the strange similarities these worlds share. Simultaneously, a mysterious woman who calls herself “Alma” appears, and she seems to have information about Omega and–strangely–about ARKS.

Episode 5 brings a lot of new content and features including increasing the player level cap to 90, new ARKS missions and areas to explore, new enemy types, new quest types with new rewards, new seasonal events, new Alliance Quarters, and more. Photon Art and Technique levels will increase, and additional Photon Art, Techniques, and Battle Arena weapons will be added.

To celebrate the new content update, Phantasy Star Online 2 is hosting a “Road to Episode 5” event in-game starting today. Players can visit the game for login bonuses 9/16-9/29 for a chance at receiving up to 3,500,000 EXP, up to 300 SG, and an Augment Transfer Pass.

A contest was also announced – the “Road to Episode 5 Twitter & Facebook Giveaway“. Participants can help win some great prizes for the entire community.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Members will receive a Lillipan Suit AND an Arkuma Suit for free as part of the Episode 5 Update Bonus.

Also starting today, ARKS can join the Flower Division in the newest AC Scratch Ticket collaboration, Sakura Memories, based on the Sakura Wars series! The AC Scratch Ticket Collaboration will let players roam a newly-landscaped ship lobby with gorgeous blooming cherry blossoms. 32 of Brazil Games’ Best Indie Studios are Bringing the Heat to Devcom Digital 2020

Today, Brazil Games is thrilled to announce that 32 Brazilian game studios, including Hermit Crab Game Studio and Rockgames, will be part of a delegation attending Devcom Digital 2020. Taking place from August 17 to 30, 2020, these incredibly talented Brazilian studios will present their latest creations, innovations, and upcoming games, as well as engage in business development, form partnerships, and come together to do what they do best — bring quality video games to the market.

In partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), the group is led by Brazil Games (the Brazilian Games Export Program) — carried out by the Brazilian Games Companies Association and Abragames.

“As one of the fastest-growing game development scenes on the planet, we’re excited to show some of the amazing work from our growing stable of Indie Developers,” said Eliana Russi, Manager of Brazil Games. “Whether it’s simply getting the games into the hands of players or creating future partnerships, our studios can’t wait to hit the digital-floor at Devcom 2020.”

“Brazil has a substantial amount of incredibly talented Indie studios, and Devcom Digital is the perfect environment to get their names and faces out there in the industry,” continued Russi. “We truly believe in homegrown talent and want to show the world what we’ve all known for years — Brazil is a hotbed of extremely accomplished and gifted game creators.”

In addition, this year three Brazilian studios —out of 60 total — were selected to participate in the prestigious DevCom NRW GREEN Virtual Indie Expo 2020: Duaik, Fira Soft, and INSANE.

Duaik is an independent game developer located in Sao Paulo, Brazil, founded in 2014 after joining Microsoft’s ID@Xbox program and receiving the title of “Inaugural Brazilian Developer” on Xbox One in 2015 from Xbox’s Phil Spencer himself. Duaik’s first title, Aritana and the Harpy’s Feather, won multiple awards including Best Game at SBGames 2014, People’s Choice at BIG 2014, Brazilian Game of the Year at TGA 2014, and many more. During Decom Digital 2020, the team will exhibit its sequel, Aritana and the Twin Mask.

Fira Soft is a studio that focuses on working with brands to create “advergames” and educational titles that connect clients and brands with a whole new demographic and player base. Founded in 2011, Fira Soft’s upcoming title Kriophobia promises a return to survival horror and follows a geologist named Anna who finds herself trapped on the sinister Zhokhov Island.

INSANE was a studio founded with one goal in mind: to bring the visually distinct, truly open-world sandbox MMORPG Profane to players everywhere. With a team of 25 industry professionals, INSANE is always looking for consultants, collaborators, and new tips and technologies.

Several studios will have featured booths this year, with Duaik, INSANE, and Fira Soft exhibiting their work in the DevCom NRW GREEN Virtual Indie Expo 2020 booth, with Rockgames, Ludact, and Kokku hosting booths of their own. Brazil Games will also have a digital booth in the Country Pavillion, and registered attendees can book meetings with the Executive Team through the Devcom Meet-to-Match tool.

In addition, several studios involved in external development, who bring their skills and expertise to outside clients in order to help them reach their goals and launch their games in a polished and complete package, will join the Devcom 2020 delegation. These studios can handle just about any aspect of game development, from creating 2D and 3D art and animation to engineering, porting and everything in between:

Founded in 2014, Garage 227 Studios is an innovative Brazilian studio that now boasts a host of talented artists, programmers, and developers and has also recently expanded into the United States.

Kokku is nearing a full decade in the games industry as the studio for external development, with a hefty resume that includes work on lauded AAA titles like Horizon: Zero Dawn and Sniper Ghost Warrior among other VR and mobile games and is staffed by industry veterans with pedigrees from major studios such as Microsoft, CAPCOM, Tencent, SEGA and THQ.

Diorama Digital is the go-to studio for external development of 2D and 3D concept art, and since 2014 has worked on numerous large-scale titles like Just Cause 4, Overwatch, and Borderlands 3.

PUGA Studios is a top outsourcing company for 2D and stylized 3D art, with clients in 13 countries and a resume that includes work with game studios like Gearbox, Jam City, and Kwalee.

Manifesto Games, with almost 15 years in the industry, handles both development and operations for web and mobile titles, co-producing and developing games for Ubisoft, Bandai Namco, Disney, Sea World, and Zynga.

PushStart is an indie studio that has worked with some of the biggest brands on the planet, including Discovery, Nestlé, Turner, The Walt Disney Company, and Hasbro, among many others. This multi-talented, multi-disciplinary studio has helped drive the explosive growth of the Brazilian gaming industry.
